TigrinyaDict (“we,” “us,” or “our”) makes offline-first apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android, including dictionaries, translators, keyboards, quizzes, notes, and alphabet and vocabulary learning tools. We also run the website tigrinyadict.com. Together, these are our “Services.” This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

The Short Version

Built for offline use. Our apps are designed to work without an internet connection. Some collect no data at all. Each app’s App Store “App Privacy” and Google Play “Data safety” sections show what that app collects.
Your typing stays yours. We do not collect or store what you type with our keyboards.
Ads in free versions. Free versions show ads through Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers and usage data. You can turn off tracking and personalized ads in your device settings, and a premium upgrade removes ads.
No selling for money. We do not sell your personal information for money.
You are in control. Email Tigrinyadict@gmail.com to access, correct, or delete your data at any time.

Who This Policy Covers

This policy applies to every TigrinyaDict app on the Apple App Store and Google Play and to our website at tigrinyadict.com. Different apps collect different information, depending on what they do. If an app works differently from what is described here, its store listing or an in-app notice will tell you. By using our Services, you acknowledge this policy. Where the law requires your consent (for example, for personalized ads), we ask for it separately, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Information We Collect

What we collect depends on the app you use and the features you turn on.

Information You Give Us

Contact details and messages: your name, email address, and message when you email us or use the contact form on our website
Account details: your email address, if an app offers sign-in or an account
Content you create: favorites, bookmarks, notes, custom words, and settings. If an app backs up or syncs this content, it is stored with our cloud provider; otherwise it stays on your device

Information Collected Automatically

Device and app information: device type, operating system version, app version, and device identifiers, such as your advertising ID
Usage information: session length, features used, and navigation patterns
Diagnostics: crash reports, error logs, and performance data
Approximate location: for localized content and advertisements, if you permit it

Information Specific to Each Type of App

Dictionary and translator apps: The words and phrases you search for, your favorites and bookmarks, and the words and features you use most.
Keyboard apps: Your selected keyboard languages and layouts and any words you add to your personal dictionary. Some keyboards may also collect anonymous statistics about which characters or features are used. We do not collect or store the actual content you type.
Quiz and learning apps: Completed lessons, quiz scores, and skill levels; your study preferences and difficulty settings; and badges, streaks, and milestones.
Notes apps: The notes you write and your notes settings, stored on your device or, if the app offers backup or sync, with our cloud provider.

Alphabet, vocabulary, and reference apps collect no more than the basic information described above, and some collect nothing at all.

Permissions and Purchases

Some features ask for your permission, such as notifications or the microphone or camera (for example, for voice or camera search, where an app offers it). You can change or withdraw permissions at any time in your device settings.

Apple or Google processes premium purchases and subscriptions. We never receive your payment card details, only confirmation that a purchase is active so we can unlock premium features.

How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

Provide and personalize the apps: run the features you use, remember your settings and learning progress, and, where offered, sync your saved content across your devices
Improve our apps: understand which features are used, fix bugs, and improve our dictionaries, keyboards, quizzes, and learning tools
Provide support: respond to your messages and help you resolve technical issues
Show ads: display and measure advertising in free versions (see “Advertising” below)
Manage premium features: unlock premium features and remove ads when you upgrade
Keep our Services safe and lawful: prevent fraud and abuse and comply with legal obligations

Legal bases (EEA and UK): if you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process personal information to provide the Services you ask for, with your consent (for example, for personalized ads, which you can withdraw at any time), for our legitimate interests in improving, securing, and supporting our Services, and to comply with legal obligations.

Advertising

Free versions of our apps, and our website, show ads. A premium upgrade removes ads in the apps that offer one.

In our apps, ads come from Google AdMob. AdMob and its partners may use device identifiers such as your advertising ID, usage information, and approximate location to show and measure ads, which may be personalized or not depending on your settings and where you live. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads.

On our website, ads come from Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites, and a consent message provided by Google lets you choose where required. Your Ad Choices

iPhone and iPad: when an app asks to track you across other companies’ apps and websites, you can choose “Ask App Not to Track.” You can change this at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
Android: delete your advertising ID or opt out of ads personalization in Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by device and Android version)
Google: manage personalized ads in your Google Ads Settings
Other advertising networks: opt out through the Digital Advertising Alliance (US) or Your Online Choices (Europe)

Opting out does not stop ads from appearing. It means the ads you see are not personalized.

Our Website

This section applies to tigrinyadict.com.

Contact form: if you send us a message through the contact form, your name, email address, and message are delivered to us by EmailJS, a third-party email service. We use them only to reply to you
Analytics: we measure how the site is used with tools such as Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) and Jetpack. These may set cookies and collect your IP address, device and browser information, and the pages you view
Fonts and scripts: our pages load fonts and code from providers such as Google Fonts and jsDelivr, which receive your IP address and browser information when those files load
Cookies and other sites: you can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, but parts of the site may not work properly without them. Our site links to the App Store, Google Play, and Facebook, whose own privacy policies apply when you use them

We use the following third-party services. They handle information under their own privacy policies, and we share only what is needed for the purpose described.

Storage, Security, and Retention

Storage and Security

Information that stays on your device, such as offline dictionaries and your settings, is stored only on your device. Information we receive is stored with Google Firebase (part of Google Cloud) or the other providers listed above. Data stored with Firebase is encrypted in transit and at rest by Google. We limit access to what is needed to run and support our Services and use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

How Long We Keep Information

Personal data: Only as long as necessary for the purposes in this policy
Search history in dictionary apps: Up to 2 years, to improve the service
Keyboard usage statistics: Up to 1 year, and anonymized
Learning progress: As long as your account is active
Crash and diagnostic data: Up to 6 months
Messages you send us: As long as needed to help you and keep a record of your request
Anonymized usage data: May be kept indefinitely for analysis

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access: Ask for a copy of your personal data
Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate information
Deletion: Ask us to delete your personal data
Portability: Ask for your data in a portable format or to have it transferred to another service

If you are in the EEA or the UK, you can also object to or ask us to restrict certain processing, withdraw your consent at any time, and complain to your local data protection authority.

If you live in California or another US state with a privacy law, you may also have the right to know what personal information we collect, to correct or delete it, and to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information for money. Some of our free apps use ad partners that may collect identifiers and usage data to show ads, which you can opt out of as described under “Advertising.” We will not treat you differently for using your rights.

Making a Request or Deleting Your Data

Email Tigrinyadict@gmail.com with the subject line “Privacy Request” (or “Data Deletion Request”), the name of the app or website your request is about, and what you would like us to do. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days, or tell you if we need more time, as the law allows.

If an app lets you create an account or sync data, you can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time, in the app if it offers that option or by email using the address of your account. We will delete the data we hold, except information we must keep to meet legal obligations. Data stored only on your device can be removed by deleting the app.

Settings You Control

Analytics and tracking: turn them off in your device settings
Keyboard statistics: turn off usage statistics in the keyboard app’s settings, where available
Location, microphone, camera, and notifications: change or withdraw permission in your device settings
Data collection: contact us to opt out of non-essential data collection for a specific app

Children’s Privacy

Our Services are not directed to children under 13, or under the higher age required by law where you live, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

International Data Transfers

We and our service providers, including Google, may process information in countries other than your own, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, these transfers are protected by safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will change the “Last Updated” date when we do. For material changes, we will also let you know by posting the updated policy in the app or on our website, by email (if we have your email address), or with a prominent notice in the Services. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy, to the extent the law allows.

Legal Disclosure

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to legal processes or government requests, to protect our rights, property, or safety, to prevent fraud or illegal activity, or to comply with applicable laws and regulations.
